This listing is an attempt to prevent more products from being reclaimed through the scrap metal process. These are, in fact, used nuts; most have fair surface rust or oxidation, but they have been forged using processes from days gone by. A large amount of antique farm tools, tractors, implements, and even commercial equipment is disassembled for pieces, to make repairs, or to salvage parts at our facility. We inspect and keep a large amount of used hardware associated with a wide variety of things, especially hardware that is out of production or relatively difficult to find equivalent replacements for in modern times without special manufacturing. This lot is perhaps one of those items that may be useful to others outside of our operation.
 
These are standard, coarse thread (UNC) square nuts. Most are forged without the more modern zinc plating process that gives much modern hardware its shiny silvery appearance. Some of the ½-inch nuts and most larger nuts are hot-dipped galvanized, resulting in a dull gray color. They show weathering with some rust and oxidation from their previous life; however, they are each inspected and appear to have good, useful threads for functionality on that project where an antique-looking square nut is just right. Nevertheless, you are purchasing a used antique product as it is. We will do our best to work with you on any sale; however, at the prices of this listing, these are not new. We do not run a tap through each one, and we do not guarantee perfection. There is a high likelihood that most of the hardware in this listing was manufactured between 50 and 110 years ago; it is not easy to replace, and we cannot just get more for the price we sell it for—it is a byproduct of the disassembly operation. It was inspected and determined to be fair, with an authentic antique appearance for those special, meticulous applications where period authenticity is desired.
 
The common sizes in this listing are ¼”, 5/16”, 3/8”, ½”, 5/8”, ¾”, and 1”. We have other available sizes too; however, these are the more common needed sizes and are included in the scope of this listing.
